Coal mining threatens large forest areas in Central-eastern India. The government’s greed for coal endangers the wildlife like tigers in these forests and the livelihood of millions of people dependent on the forests.
There is enough energy to power our needs without destroying these forests. Efficient use of the existing coal and electricity and renewable energy solutions can give us the electricity we need, without hurting our forests.
